Virtual Reality Film

The brief was, “How can we persuade presidents, prime ministers, health ministers and influential policy makers the world over to embrace, fund, and protect the mRNA Technology Transfer Programme?”

The answer was to create a virtual reality (VR) film taking viewers to developing countries in Africa, Asia and South America to witness the devastating impact of vaccine inequity, and introduce them to the world-class vaccine production facilities that exist there.

These two seven-minute films, only viewable on a VR headset, transport the viewer to the Amazon rainforest where scientists explore the natural world for signs of future pandemics. It continues to advanced mRNA Technology Transfer laboratories in Brazil, South Africa, Senegal, and India, countries that are among many participating in the program across the Global South. As scientists race to ensure the resilience of low- and middle-income countries in the face of future threats, we learn about the potential of the mRNA Technology Transfer’s Programme to develop and produce life-saving vaccines for diseases that disproportionately afflict the poor, like yellow fever, dengue and tuberculosis.
