Jo Cox Foundation

‘The Great Get Together’

In her maiden speech as an MP to the House of Commons, Jo Cox famously said; “We are far more united and have more in common than that which divides us.” Using red gingham as our campaign connector, we united people across the country in The Great Get Together, as they came together to remember Jo on the anniversary of her murder. In the face of two terror attacks just months prior in London and Manchester, the event was a timely and unifying event to celebrate all that we have in common.

We created three distinct films in the lead up to The Great Get Together: a poignant film in defiance of terrorism; a short film self-shot by celebrities on their mobile phones; and a satyrical political film by Swede Mason.

I worked with Jo Cox for 5 years at Oxfam, so creatively directing this campaign was deeply personal. Everyone in the team was driven to mark the anniversary of her murder with the kind of optimism, kindness and passion that Jo brought every day to her work and exceptional career.
